So you think you’ve got the brains to solve a crime, the guts to track down the bad guys, and the brawn to bring them in? You think you’re detective material? Well, we’ll see if you’ve got what it takes to solve crimes and keep the streets safe.
We’re going to put you through an intensive series of questions: what would you do when faced with a crime? How do you interrogate victims and suspects? What happens when you get emotionally involved in a case? With your answer, we’ll be able to find out just what kind of a cop you would be.
No cop persona would be complete without knowing the person who made it famous, so we won’t just tell you what kind of cop you are, we’ll tell you who exemplifies that persona, from Columbo to Olivia Benson and everyone in between. Are you ready to solve some crimes?
You get a new case from your superior. Where do you head first?
- To talk to the victim

You're at the crime scene. What do you do to get the most evidence?
- Role play what might have happened
- Look closely at all the evidence
- Imagine myself in the victim’s shoes

What are you most likely to say when you first reach the crime scene?
- Make some kind of sarcastic remark
- Express sympathy for the victim

You go to speak with the victim. Are you more good cop or bad cop?
- I’m bad cop. If they don’t cooperate I can’t help them.
- I’m good cop: I want to make them feel heard and cared for
- Somewhere in the middle. I’m not mean, but I’m pretty wry.
- Good cop. I want them to feel comfortable and unthreatened so they share as much as possible.
- Good cop. Humor makes everyone open up! Unless it makes them feel bad, then I guess I’m bad cop.
You end up in a he said she said kind of situation. Do you believe the victim?
- I’ll always believe the victim.
- I tend to believe the victim, but I have a healthy dose of suspicion.
- I use the evidence to find the answer, I don’t believe anyone.
- No, I need evidence.
You get your first lead and go to talk to a suspect. What's your approach?
- Non-intimidating. If they think I’m not a threat, they might let something slip.
- Intimidating. Like…with violence intimidating.
- I just want to sit down and be honest with them, even if that means I have to say some hard truths.
- Catch them off guard with some jokes then POW hit em with the evidence.
- I usually have to hold back some anger.
You've got a strong personal connection to this case. How does that affect your work?
- It doesn’t.
- I might miss some evidence because I’m following my gut.
- It makes me work that much harder to catch the person.
- I get a bit violent.

Your superior officer says you're getting too close to this one and tells you to back off. Do you listen?
- Not even a little bit.
- I pretend to listen but keep working with whoever is on the case.

- Psych, I never go anywhere without telling people where I am.
- I rip through my bonds, steal their gun, and fight my way out.

- There’s no way I would have let that happen. I’m too suspicious.
- I manage to keep them confused and talking until someone can find me.

- Oh, definitely
