Planning a party is truly an art form. Can you bring together a group of people who will all get along, set the right tone, feed them, get them talking, and above all make sure they have fun?
Even harder is doing it when you don’t have unlimited funds. We’re about to find out if you can complete the most difficult of all tasks: Throw a major shindig with all the trimmings, and do it for under $150. We’ll ask you about every element of the party and it’s all in your control. All you have to do is keep your spending under your control too.
Grab some streamers, plan your invite list, and get a menu in mind. There are dozens of decisions to make before you’ll know if you’ve succeeded at your task. It’s time to see if you can throw the party of the year and do it on a serious budget.
First and most important: How many people are you inviting?
- Between 5 and 10
- 10-20
- 20+
Let's start with decorations. What are you planning to get?
- The works! Balloons, place cards, streamers, and some theme elements too.
- I pick up some streamers and balloons. Nothing too intense.
- I’m keeping it classy, so I go for a few really nice pieces, like a good wreath.
- I’m skipping decorations except for some confetti. Who doesn’t love confetti?
Are you sending out invitations to this shindig?
- It’s not a party without invitations.
- I mean…Facebook invitations.
You know you've got to have some way to keep things fun, so you snag a party game while you're there. Which one do you take?
- I want something original: Escape Room, The Game.
- Cards Against Humanity. Classic and easy for everyone to get into.
- I don’t need much. Maybe just Jenga.
Food is the most important. Which snacks do you set out to start?

That can't be all you're serving, right? What's your main course?
- A few apps, maybe a frozen pizza.
- I’m cooking a full sit down dinner.
- We’re doing it potluck style. I’m grilling!
All food needs to come with beverages. Pick what you'll serve.

Every party needs some music. Are you set to get your tunes playing or do you need to pick something up?
- I have to grab a small portable speaker.
- I’ve got everything I need.
- I definitely need a new bluetooth speaker for those tunes.
What's the dessert situation looking like?

What's your signature touch?
- Gift bags!
- Ambience. I get those string lights and go to town.
- I’m all about inviting the right people. Get the perfect mix and the rest of the party falls into place.
How long is this party going on for?
- Late into the night.
- Probably 4-5 hours.
- It’s mostly a meal time kind of a deal.
You know there's going to be some cleanup after this. What do you get in preparation for the aftermath?
- Paper towels, organic cleaners, and some new Swiffer inserts.
- Eh, probably some Clorox wipes.
- All purpose cleaner and a lot of trash bags.
Last question - how would you rate this quiz?
- I loved it!
- It was pretty okay.
- Not great…
