Every now and then life throws one of those awful, nasty, terrible, no good days at us, and all we can do is figure out how to dodge the hits as they come at us. Oversleeping and getting in to work late? Oh yeah, that’s part of those nasty days. Getting a bad performance review from a boss? Definitely included. Getting into a fight with your significant other? You know that’s part of this gross day.
Each of us has our own methods of managing when life is a giant jerk. Some of us go out with friends, others have a good stiff drink. Some of us (definitely not me) put on a onesie and have a nice hot cuppa. Show off how you deal with the worst days and we’ll give you a little bit of a boost by sharing a product that will definitely make you smile.
We’ll get through it together.
You wake up, look at your clock, and realize your alarm didn't go off. You're late. What do you do?
- Immediately jump out of bed and blast out the door to work in 10 minutes
- Remind myself that all I can do now is get into work, then start my day like normal.
- Take a moment to pet my cat and stretch to reset before I head in.
- Drink my cup of coffee like normal, then go in. I’ll just stay late and anyone with a problem can deal.
- Rush my way through my morning routine, but look at cat pictures once I get to work to calm down.
- Throw on my favorite music to get me moving. I can be there in 5 minutes I swear!
You make it to work and grab a cup of coffee to try to kickstart your morning. As you're walking back to your desk you trip and coffee gets all over your new shirt. How do you respond?
- Vent to my best work bud.
- Remind myself that it’s just one shirt and I can wash it off.
- Sneak out and buy myself a new shirt to replace it.
- Wipe it up and keep going. I have work to do.
- I bet I could turn that stain into something cool when I get home. It’ll be fine.
- Oh look time for more cat pictures.
Ok, you've dealt with the coffee problem and now you're on the phone with someone who just wants to complain. You've been trying to pacify them for almost 30 minutes. How do you deal?
- Scroll through Pinterest while pretending to listen.
- Scroll through Instagram while pretending to listen.
- Scroll through Amazon while pretending to listen.
- Scroll through Facebook while pretending to listen.
- Cut them off and then hang up.
It's lunchtime. Someone ate your lunch. Of course they did. What do you do?
- Use it as an excuse to buy food from my favorite joint down the street.
- I think I’ve got a few snacks in my desk. I can get creative.
- My bestie shares half of their lunch with me.
- It’s irritating, but I remind myself that it’s one day and I could use a walk anyway. I go out to get something.
- I confront them and get it back.
- I don’t really have a plan B, so I spend my lunch break looking up dogs I could adopt.
There's no way the afternoon could be as good as the morning. In fact, you've got a meeting with your boss and you're pretty sure it's going to be good news. That is, until you walk in and you find out you dropped the ball on a major project. What do you say?
- I’m sorry this fell apart, but I needed more support to make this project work.
- Let’s see if we can think outside the box to find a solution.
- There may be a way we can turn this into a positive. Here’s what I’m thinking…
- Mistakes are normal. What’s not normal is how awesome I’m going to be at fixing this.
- I apologize, but I’m honestly getting a little overwhelmed.
- Legitimately I start to cry.
Ok, you've survived the meeting, you're back on track at work and you get a text from your boo cancelling plans for the evening. What will you do instead?
- Screw this, I’m going shopping.
- I’m going home and curling up with my furry pet and not moving.
- I’ll probably make some art. That always makes me feel better.
- Fine, I’ll go out with someone else.
- Grab coffee with someone I trust.
- Talk to my therapist or another voice of wisdom.
Even if you've got alternative plans in the works, it's still rude for your bae to cancel on you. What do you say to them?
- I really wanted to spend time with you. Can we reschedule?
- I’m honestly kind of angry right now.
- You might have a good reason, but I’m having a bad day and don’t deserve this.
- I’ll forgive you if you bring me something shiny tomorrow.
- Fine, my cat loves me more than you anyway.
- We were going to see that show together. Can we go another time?
This day has reached completely epic proportions of awful. When you get home from work you're hunkering down into self care mode. What do you do to feel better?
- Call my mom for a little bit of a pick me up.
- Journal
- Take my dog for a walk.
- I write myself some cute reminders of why I’m awesome.
- I’m going out dancing.
- I throw myself a mini fashion show, then soak in a fancy bubble bath.
Oh crap. You're trying to relax when you hear the sound of your dog doing their business inside the house. Grossssss. You clean it up. What now?
- I’m done. I’m putting on some angry music and crying.
- My only love has betrayed me. Dog is going outside until I can deal.
- It’s officially time to give up on this day and go to bed.
- My dog didn’t mean it. I’m still pissed. Dog goes outside. I punch a pillow.
- Can I trade in my dog and get a new one?
- I clean it up and watch some training videos on Youtube to make sure I’m potty training correctly.
You decide that because your day has been so awful you're going to have a very nice dinner. Which of these sounds the best to you?
