Mass shootings have become a major epidemic in the United States. What should we do to prevent guns from getting into the wrong hands?
- Tragedies are terrible, but I oppose infringing on Second Amendment rights.
- We shouldn’t tamper with the Second Amendment, but semi-automatic weapons don’t belong in cities.
- It’s not about keeping guns away from anyone. It’s about mental health.
Who do you wish had actually made it to the White House?
Most young people need to borrow thousands of dollars in student loans to get degrees necessary for entry-level jobs. What’s the best plan for tackling the college debt epidemic?
- Colleges and universities could start by paying for the loan interest of the students they enroll.
- The government shouldn’t profit from student loan interest. I’d create better-paying jobs so students can afford to pay off their loans quicker.
- We should privatize the student loan industry, so lenders would have to compete to give borrowers lower interest rates.
President Obama has announced that the U.S. is committed to taking in 10,000 Syrian refugees over the next few years. What would be your plan to help those in need?
- We should ban Muslims from entering the U.S. until we figure out what’s going on.
- Bringing them to the U.S. isn’t necessarily the answer. We should strengthen the measures in place to help those in need until they can safely go home.
- We’ve already done enough.
Which cute animal would you like to be the next First Pet?
The United States incarcerates 25% of the world’s criminals. What efforts should be made regarding criminal justice reform?
- I don’t like mandatory minimum sentences. They don’t take into account individual circumstances. We can’t afford to be throwing so many people into prisons.
- We should reassess some laws regarding non-violent crimes.
- Drug addiction shouldn’t be criminalized. We need to treat it appropriately.
Speaking of drugs, should marijuana be legalized on a federal level?
- I’m 100% behind legalizing medicinal marijuana, but not recreationally. States can do what they want.
- We should intensify the war on drugs. I support medical marijuana in few cases, but the dope is bad.
- Legalizing marijuana, recreational or medicinal, is a very bad idea.
Scientists are almost unanimous that climate change is caused by human activity. Droughts, floods, extreme storms and ocean acidification will drastically reshape the planet. What do you propose we do to prevent further damage?
- If it’s man-made, the U.S. can’t be the only ones held responsible for fixing it.
- I believe the weather goes up, and I believe the weather goes down.
- We should take care of the environment, but there’s no need to make it into a political issue.
ISIS, a.k.a ISIL, is the biggest terrorist threat to the world. What do you think we should do to win the war on terror?
- I would take away their oil and bomb the ^$&% out of them.
- We have to eradicate them now.
- We should have a summit with our allies and talk about it.
Although ObamaCare has helped insure millions, the health care system is still far from perfect. What can we do to improve?
- We need competition. While every American should have mandatory affordable coverage, Obamacare prevents competition that would give patients better options.
- We should raise the Medicare age to 70 and give citizens tax-sheltered “Health Empowerment Accounts” at birth, allowing them to pay for routine medical costs.
- I think everyone should have health care, and health savings accounts would work. But we also need to have a free market.
Middle-class Americans have to suffer an unfair tax burden, while millionaires are getting tax cuts. How can we fix this?
- The federal government spends too much. We need to lower rates, cut loopholes, and simplify the tax code.
- We should have a flat tax rate, close to 15 percent.
- Low-income individuals and families shouldn’t have to pay tax. Those who make more will pay between 10-25 percent.
There are a lot of immigrants living among us. Some of them are legal, and some of them are not. What do you think about it?
- We need to secure the border, fix the broken legal visa system, and deny citizenship to anyone here illegally.
- Let’s build a wall and make Mexico pay for it.
- We should allow those with good records to register as “guest workers,” and help our southern neighbors improve their economy so they won’t have to come here.
